The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund
(SCIAF) in association with the Scottish Government offers scholarship in the
field of African Studies and International Development in UK. This
scholarship is available for pursuing masters degree level. This
scholarship is for the students from Burundi, Malawi or Zambia. The
scholarships will be tenable for one academic year. The SCIAF Zambia
scholarship will cover the cost of the overseas tuition fee; travel to and from
the UK, research activities in Zambia and a £12,000 stipend. The
closing date for applications to the SCIAF Zambia Scholarship is 1st April
2013.
Study Subject(s): The scholarship is open to students applying to the MSc in African
Studies or in Africa and International Development.
Course Level: This scholarship is available for pursuing master’s
degree level.

Eligibility:
-The
scholarship is open to students from Burundi, Malawi or Zambia who are accepted
for admission to the MSc in African Studies or the MSc in Africa and
International Development.
-Academic: The scholarship is awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit. In select instances we may consider significant and relevant work experience in lieu of academic qualifications.
-Zambia: Applicants must hold a bachelors degree with distinction (a grading of 75% or above).
-Malawi: Applicants must hold a bachelors degree with a grading of 80% or above
-Burundi: Applicants must hold a Diplome d’Ingenier, Diplome de Licence or Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies with a grading of 80% or above.
-Academic: The scholarship is awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit. In select instances we may consider significant and relevant work experience in lieu of academic qualifications.

scholarship to students from Burundi, Malawi or Zambia for the 2013-2014
academic session. The scholarship is open to students applying to the MSc
in African Studies or the MSc in Africa and International Development. The
Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, SCIAF, is the official aid and
international development charity of the Catholic Church in
Scotland. Funded principally by voluntary donations, SCIAF
works in partnership with local communities, of all faiths, in Africa, Asia and
Latin America, helping some of the world’s poorest people free themselves from
poverty.
Number of award(s): One scholarship is offered.
Duration of award(s): The scholarships will be tenable for one academic year.
What does it cover? The SCIAF Zambia Scholarship will cover the cost of the overseas tuition
fee, travel to and from the UK, research activities in Zambia and a £12,000
stipend.
Other Benefits: The
successful candidate will be required to travel to Zambia for a one-week SCIAF
workshop in early 2014 and an eight-week internship with a SCIAF project in
May/June 2014 as part of the master’s dissertation.
