District Project Officer – (to be based at Country Office, Lilongwe)
This position is available for a period of one and half years; and renewable subject to performance and availability of funding.
Reporting to the Project Manager, The responsibility of the District Project Officer will be coordinating and implementing HIV/AIDS/ECD programming and responsible for creating opportunities for effective partnership, collaboration, planning and designing a holistic approach to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS for children in the district. S/he will be responsible for Coordinating interventions aimed at strengthening the capacity of communities and other stakeholders that implement HIV/AIDS impact mitigation interventions, facilitate community mobilization efforts for communities to provide appropriate care and protection of orphans and vulnerable children.

Responsibilities
Create opportunities for effective collaboration and partnership with government, CBOs, school and community partnership to ensure sustainability of integrated activities that are being implemented.

· Lead in the designing, planning, organization,
implementation and monitoring of the integrated community based HIV/AIDS/ECD
program in the district.
· Organize and oversee data collection activities for
designated impact areas to ensure validity and reliability in collaboration
with partners at all levels.
· Initiate dissemination of data findings for
advocacy in collaboration with Save the Children staff, government partners and
other education stakeholders.
· Coordinate production, refinement and utilization
of training materials on HIV/AIDS and ECD activities for communities.
· Organize workshops for district level partners to
enhance their capacity to support children and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
· Work together with other Project Malawi partners to
mobilize communities to implement HIV/AIDS impact mitigation activities.
· Facilitate the strengthening of existing community
structures to provide psychosocial support to OVC and parents affected by
HIV/AIDS.
Job
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; Social
Sciences, Child Development, Community Development, Public Health etc, Plus 3
years of related experience.
· Wide knowledge in community mobilization with a
focus on health related issues,
· Experience
in design, planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of integrated
community-based HIV/AIDS programs,
· Ability in promoting and collaborating closely with
multi-level stakeholders,
· Ability to plan, budget and control program funds
and property and track expenditures against budgets,
· Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated
ability to lead an effective work team.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills,
· Basic knowledge in research and ability to use data
analysis packages like SPSS, ACCESS
· Proficiency in the use of computer word processing
and spreadsheets as well as email and internet use.
