CHIEF PUBLIC WORKS OFFIER (GRADE FM4)

MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT

LOCATION: VARIOUS DISTRICTS COUNCILS.

QUALIFICATION

Applicants should be serving officers at Grade G with at least four years of  e experience  in Public  Work at District level and must possess a Degree in Civil or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying  or Architecture. Must be registered with the relevant professional body.

DUTIES

·    Developing the work plans for the councils and monitoring of accomplishments against set  targets .

·    Interpretations of government policies to public Works designs.

·    Implementing the work plans relating to engineering.

·    Construction of minor estates  roads for government Departments

·    Representing the directorate in technical and planning committee meetings.

·     Supervision of contracts  on Maintenance  and Construction of Roads  ,Bridges and Water Works

COMPETENCIES AND  APTITUDES

The incumbent  should have well developed interpersonal and communication skills. She/he  should have sound d knowledge of development policies  and priorities  of Government so that  these are effectively translated to suit  District Council  needs. Ability to network with officials and experts in other organizations/insitutions.Sensitivity the nee of local communities. Must  be committed to remain and work in any District Counci in Malawi.
